Unique Processes
Plainfield Precision has many years of experience with specialized technologies such as Spun tip and MuCell as well as unique processes such as Micro-Molding and Multi-Slide metal forming. The components are often complex, requiring more than one manufacturing discipline, knowledge of many materials and how to join the materials to become one precision part.
Technical Resins
Metal
Plainfield has extensive experience in producing stampings from specialized materials such as Titanium, Nickel 200, MP35N, 316L Stainless Steel, Niobium, Platinum-Iridium, and Molybdenum in stock thicknesses from .0025” to .080”. The company is experienced in producing “micro-stampings” in sizes as small as .040” x .040”, holding tolerances of .0005”.
Assembly
Utilizing a highly sophisticated automation system consisting of robotics, vision systems, laser detection, and custom packaging technology, the company currently produces a micro-assembly utilized in implantable devices. Other medical products produced include components for disposable devices, drug delivery systems, electrical components, and surgical instruments.
Current Production
The injectable drug and delivery system segment is one area of Plainfield Precision’s medical’s expertise and includes items such as syringes, insulin delivery devices, and pre-filled syringes and systems. Currently the facility in Plymouth is producing a part for an insulin delivery device in the class 8 clean room.
Several surgical components are also currently being produced at Plainfield Precision facilities including suture/staple removal devices as well as implantable devices such as a bond pad array component for pace-makers.
Current customers include industry leaders such as Medtronics, 3M, Avail, Valeritas and Covidien.
